Pay-per-click advertising is a way of making money on the Internet without having a web site. For those who can master the techniques, it can be a very profitable business.

Beware! Although this method for making money online may seem like an easy way to Internet riches, it is also one of the most filled with pitfalls. It is, in fact, one of the easiest ways to go broke.

If you have ever done a search on Google, you will notice at the top and on the right side of the page  "Sponsored Links" appear with short ads published underneath. These ads are placed there by advertisers that are either advertising their own product or service or someone elses (affiliate marketers).  Affiliate marketers take advantage of the thousands of companies that allow you to advertiser their product or service for a commission. When an affiliate marketer's ad is clicked on, he/she pays for each click (whether or not anyone actually buys what is being advertised). The cost of each click can be as little as $0.01 or as much as $15.00 or more depending on the popularity of the the search term.

Ads are displayed based on the keywords (search terms) that the affiliate marketer bids on. For example, someone types in the seach term (keywords) "online business opportunities." If you click on one of the ads displayed under "Sponsored Search" of an affiliate marketer, he/she is charged for that click. The trick is to make more money from people buying what you are advertising than the advertising costs. If your ad generates sales of $300, and the ads (clicks) cost you $100, you have a net profit of $200.
